One mistake doesn't have to be the whole story. This is the count toward the day my license is back — and proof that the months in between were spent becoming someone who deserves it.
Driving after drinking wasn't just against the law — it put people I'll never know at risk, and it broke the trust of everyone who believed I knew better.
I'm not writing this to excuse it. I'm writing it because owning it completely is the only place real change starts.
I'm not counting these days to get something back quickly. I'm counting them because every one that passes is a day I've stayed accountable — showing up, doing the work, and proving to myself before anyone else that this changed me for good.
When this clock hits zero, it won't mean I've "paid my dues" and can go back to how things were. It'll mean I get to start again — more careful, more humble, and grateful for a second chance I don't take for granted.
I know an apology doesn't undo what could have happened that night. What I can do is make sure it never happens again — and let my actions since then speak louder than any words here.
I've used this time to get help, to be honest with the people close to me, and to rebuild habits I should have had all along. It hasn't been comfortable, and it wasn't supposed to be. That's what made it worth doing.
This page isn't a celebration of getting a license back. It's a record of the distance between who I was and who I'm choosing to be.
